Election Commission Cleared, Yet Rahul Gandhi Continues Attacks, Says Meghwal
Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal addressed the media in Bikaner on October 4, defending Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar against persistent allegations from the opposition, especially Rahul Gandhi. Meghwal stressed that the Election Commission had already resolved all pending concerns and that the current controversy was a political strategy aimed at undermining a key constitutional institution.
He underscored the commission’s recent request for clarification on whether deceased voters and those who have migrated should remain listed. According to Meghwal, the opposition’s silence on these queries indicated a lack of genuine interest in electoral integrity.
The minister highlighted that the Election Commission is conducting a Special In‑Depth Review to remove dead and transferred names from the electoral rolls, reaffirming its dedication to a clean and fair voting system. On organizational issues, Meghwal announced the appointment of regional heads who will soon convene meetings to identify strong candidates from the grassroots level, ensuring that the party’s candidate selection process remains robust.
Meghwal concluded that Rahul Gandhi’s habit of casting aspersions on constitutional bodies serves no constructive purpose and distracts from genuine electoral reforms.
