Eight of Eighteen Spas Found Suspected Illegal Activity in Gurgaon Raid

A joint team of Gurgaon police and the Haryana Women’s Commission carried out a massive inspection of spa centres located inside Safir 90 Mall, sector‑90, on the night of September 19. The operation, lasting nearly six hours, focused on 18 venues that were under suspicion for unlawful practices.

The force, numbering between 70 and 100 officers and featuring about 20 senior inspectors, detained around 20 male individuals and more than 20 women for questioning. Some of the women are believed to be minors, a hypothesis that will be validated through age verification procedures.

Investigators reported that eight of the inspected spas displayed clear signs of illicit activity. Seized evidence includes digital gadgets, paper records, and physical items such as potentially harmful substances and narcotics. The authorities are now scrutinising the role of spa owners, managers, and other staff members.

The Women’s Commission had received repeated complaints from nearby merchants about the spas’ conduct, prompting a coordinated response with the police and district officials. A duty magistrate supervised the raid to uphold procedural fairness.

ACP Abhilaksh Joshi explained that the raid was conducted on the basis of information provided by the commission’s chairperson and the police commissioner. A total of 18‑19 spa locations were examined, and all confiscated items have been secured as evidence. The case is being pursued under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, with additional allegations that some women were pressured into prostitution.
