Eight injured in Bhivandi highway collision with parked truck
A separate collision unfolded on the Mumbai-Nasik highway near Bhivandi early Thursday, leaving eight people wounded. Members of a family from Chalis village had dropped relatives at Mumbai Airport and were returning home when their cruiser struck a stationary truck parked just beyond the Bhivandi bypass.
The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to rear‑end the truck and sustain severe damage to its rear section. Approximately ten occupants were inside the cruiser; eight sustained injuries ranging from minor cuts to serious trauma.
Bystanders and local residents rushed to the scene, helping extricate the injured. First responders transported the victims to Indira Gandhi Hospital in Bhivandi, while four critically injured patients were shifted to a tertiary care facility for advanced treatment. Police are investigating the circumstances that led the truck to be halted on the highway.
