Eight‑Hour Search Ends with Fatality after Man Leaps into Noida Sewer

A disturbing incident unfolded in Noida’s Sector‑39 area when a young husband, allegedly intoxicated, dove into a stormwater drain near the Sector‑81 metro hub after an argument with his wife.

Emergency services, including fire‑fighters, NDRF and SDRF personnel, were deployed to the site shortly after the police received the distress call. Thick flow of water and near‑total darkness inside the sewer forced rescuers to rely on specialized equipment and manual probing.

The coordinated effort spanned close to eight hours, with rescuers conducting repeated sweeps of the conduit. In the early hours of October 8, the victim’s body was finally recovered a short distance downstream.

Authorities have taken custody of the deceased for autopsy, briefed family members, and are pursuing legal action while probing the underlying domestic conflict that led to the tragedy.
