ED Investigation Sought Over Karnataka Political Sting Involving Rs 15 Crore
Union Minister H.D. Kumar Swamy, speaking in Bidadi, Ramnagar district, called for an immediate investigation by the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax authorities into a controversial sting operation that allegedly cost more than Rs 15 crore. The operation targeted former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and, according to opposition leader R. Ashok, required a financial outlay between Rs 10 and Rs 15 crore. Swamy urged that the money trail be examined thoroughly to prevent any damage to the state’s reputation.
He warned that if the financial dimensions are not exposed, the integrity of Karnataka could be compromised. Swamy added that an ED probe would uncover how the funds were transferred and who benefitted from the operation.
The minister also addressed the ongoing debate over Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) recruitment. He proposed reducing the tenure of government employees from the existing 35 years to a shorter period of 10‑20 years to open up more positions for young aspirants. Swamy stressed that retirees under the new regime should retain their pension and post‑retirement benefits.
Highlighting the urgent need for job creation, Swamy said his goal is to ensure that each family can count on at least one government posting. He accused the state government of neglecting qualified candidates and blamed the KPSC of descending into corruption, alleging that jobs are being sold for cash and that senior officials are complicit.
