Burhanpur comes alive with the colors of empowerment as the two-day Aajeevika Holi Mela kicks off on February 27, 2026, at the historic SDM office premises. Spearheaded by the MP State Rural Livelihood Mission, this initiative spotlights rural women transforming their skills into thriving businesses ahead of the festival of colors.
The fair features an impressive lineup of stalls manned by self-help group women, displaying premium herbal gulal, flower-based natural dyes, and traditional household goods. Shoppers from across the district are thronging the venue, eager to embrace toxin-free Holi options.
These female trailblazers are passionate about their chemical-free creations. ‘Our products ensure no skin damage – pure nature’s gift,’ they affirmed, while praising national schemes for enabling their journey to self-sufficiency and championing local produce.
‘PM Modi has empowered us to be independent,’ shared Jainu Tadvi. ‘No more dependency. Our stall offers herbal gulal and fertilizers, all natural and safe.’
Echoing her, Rajni Verma recounted, ‘From homemakers to earners, we’re now recognized for our flower-derived herbal colors. Gratitude to PM Modi and our collective.’
District coordinator Tawati Khalko elaborated on the strategic intent: ‘Echoing PM and CM’s call for ‘Vocal for Local’, this mela showcases our didis’ hard work in herbal gulal, syringes, and more. We’re aiming to make them lakhpatis.’
With warnings about synthetic colors’ dangers, she promoted the fair’s palash-marigold-rose blends as harmless alternatives. This event underscores how government-backed missions are fueling economic independence, cultural preservation, and public health in rural heartlands.
