Dwaraka Anti‑Burglary Squad Seizes Cash and TV Following Senior Theft

The anti‑burglary cell of Dwaraka district police announced the arrest of a repeat offender who preys on senior citizens withdrawing money from banks. The suspect, Deepak, also known as Chhote, 35, was linked to a September 9 snatching in the Chhawla region. From his confiscated belongings, police recovered ₹40,400 in cash and impounded an LED television purchased with the stolen funds. The theft victim, 88‑year‑old Harish Chand, reported that a small bag containing ₹80,000, a Kenra Bank cheque booklet, and spectacles was taken. A task force headed by Inspector Basant Kumar reviewed footage from more than a hundred surveillance cameras covering the crime spot and adjacent lanes. The footage captured the culprit removing his T‑shirt and swapping clothes immediately after the robbery, enabling officers to track him down. The arrested individual told investigators that he discarded the bag, cheque book and glasses a short distance away while keeping the cash. He claimed to have expended ₹39,600 of the stolen amount, with the police recovering the balance. The search for the missing items continues.
