Dubey demands press conference on SER irregularities, a divine trial
Anand Dubey took up the issue of alleged irregularities in the Special Election Register (SER) during his Sunday rally in Mumbai. He accused the Election Commission of procedural lapses and insisted that the body should hold an open press conference to answer the accusations.
Dubey likened the demand for transparency to a "divine trial," saying that even gods had to undergo agnipareeksha (trial by fire). He urged that the Commission invite opposition leaders such as Gyanesh Kumar, Sukhir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi to discuss the matter publicly.
He added that former chief election commissioner Chokalingam had already written to the central Election Commission, urging corrective action, and that protests were being organized across the country.
The spokesperson called for investigations by the SIT, CBI and CID into related high‑profile cases, including the murder of Pradeep Purnekar, the shooting at Salman Khan's residence, and other violent incidents.
Dubey stressed that respecting opposition voices and ensuring a fair electoral process are essential for India's democratic health.
