Driver Arrested Following Crash That Wounded Three CRPF Soldiers on NH‑44 Near Amarnath Route

Three Central Reserve Police Force soldiers were injured in a traffic collision on July 8 while stationed on the NH‑44 highway near Srinagar’s outer zone, specifically in Naugam. The CRPF team was posted close to the Tingn Bypass to ensure safety for devotees heading to the Amarnath shrine.

The wounded troops belong to the D Company of the 148th Battalion. They were swiftly transported to Ujala Signus Hospital, where doctors are attending to their injuries.

Police officials confirmed that the driver of the vehicle that struck the CRPF convoy was arrested on the spot. A formal police report has been filed, and investigators are probing the circumstances surrounding the crash.

This incident follows a similar episode in Sonamarg, Ganderbal district, where seven CRPF personnel were hurt after a driver lost control near a tunnel. The CRPF, in coordination with local law enforcement, maintains a robust security arrangement along the NH‑44 corridor, providing protection for pilgrims and ensuring the safe passage of traffic during the Amarnath Yatra.
