DRDO-Industry Coordination 'Vimrash 2026' Highlights Self‑Reliable Defence Goals

The DRDO‑Industry coordination meeting, dubbed ‘Vimrash 2026’, brought together senior officials, industry leaders, and innovators to map out India’s roadmap to self‑reliance in defence. The minister noted that self‑reliance is not merely about indigenising a few components but embedding it into the nation’s character and mindset. New policy guidelines released at the event aim to boost funding for industry‑led R&D, encourage collaborations between academia and the corporate sector, and accelerate investments in future technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing and hypersonics. The minister emphasized that a partnership extending beyond production—to research, design, testing and certification—is essential for turning India into a global hub of defence manufacturing.
