Doctor Says 91-Year-Old Anna Hazare Responding Well to Treatment

Bombay Hospital’s Dr. Gautam Bhansali updated the press on Monday about the health status of social crusader Anna Hazare, who is 91 years old. Hazare was admitted six days ago with viral fever, loose motions, a kidney infection and an elevated creatinine level.

The clinical team initiated targeted antibiotics and supportive care. After an initial phase that required oxygen support, his condition steadied, and he no longer needs supplemental oxygen.

He is now staying in a standard room, eating regularly, and passing urine in satisfactory volumes. His kidney function tests show a downward trend, and his temperature has been normal for the last two days.

Given his advanced age, Dr. Bhansali cautioned that organ recovery may be slower, and the exact time of discharge remains uncertain. Nonetheless, Hazare is conversing clearly, walking to the bathroom unaided, and appears in good spirits.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has been in regular contact with the hospital, even visiting Hazare personally, and has discussed further care options with the doctors.
