DMK Questions Centre’s One‑Day‑One‑University Plan for Youth

The DMK voiced strong reservations about the Union Ministry of Education’s proposal to launch a “One Day, One University” program aimed at expanding higher‑education opportunities for Indian youth. Elangovan warned that the hurried rollout could jeopardise academic standards and place undue pressure on students.

He argued that the scheme, while appealing on the surface, might undermine the quality of education and divert resources from existing institutions that already struggle with infrastructure deficits.

The party called for a comprehensive review and a consultative approach that includes state governments and educational experts before any nationwide implementation.
