Chief Justice MS Sonak and Justice Rajesh Shankar heard arguments highlighting procedural breaches. The CBI confirmed initiating a preliminary inquiry per the single judge’s January 13 mandate. Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan detailed how DIT exceeded its approved intake of 60 students, admitting 138 instead, before seeking judicial recourse.
Flashback to January 13: A single bench, appalled by the exam ban despite AICTE’s April 30 nod for 2025-26 enrollments, ordered a CBI probe. It slammed the move as a blatant injustice to students’ careers, probing AICTE and JUT for potential collusion or negligence.
