Dilip Ghosh Promises Zero Tolerance for Corruption in Panchayat Audits

West Bengal’s Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Dilip Ghosh declared a zero‑tolerance approach toward corruption after ordering a special audit of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration and the hill‑area panchayats of North Bengal. Speaking at a meeting in Siliguri’s Uttarkanya secretariat, Ghosh said any form of graft in public‑service activities would not be tolerated. He announced that at least ten percent of the panchayats facing grave corruption charges will be subjected to a detailed audit. The minister also mentioned coordination with the newly appointed GTA chief to fix infrastructure deficits and a plan to fill approximately 11,000 vacant positions in the department to keep services running smoothly. Ghosh expressed confidence that the electorate’s desire for development will translate into a decisive victory for BJP candidates in the two upcoming assembly by‑elections.
