Dileep Ghosh Blames Past Governments for Exam Leak Chaos, Calls for Accountability

Kolkata, July 31 – Speaking to the press, West Bengal minister Dileep Ghosh placed the recent NEET paper‑leak protests in a broader political perspective. He asserted that leak scandals were not unique to the current administration, recalling multiple incidents that took place during the Congress regime at both state and central levels.

“Why was a minister from the Centre asked to resign when similar leaks happened under the previous government? The state has seen several leaks, yet there was no substantial inquiry then,” Ghosh questioned.

He promised that the present BJP‑led government would not shy away from launching investigations if new evidence emerges. While reiterating that minors will not be punished, he warned that any willful wrongdoing will be prosecuted, reinforcing the rule of law.

Ghosh also addressed criticism from AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, noting that three leak cases occurred in Punjab during Kejriwal’s ally Bhagwant Mann’s tenure, yet those were largely ignored. He urged senior opposition leaders who have fanned the flames to also face accountability.

In a lighter note, the minister welcomed author Taslima Nasrin’s visit, emphasizing that Kolkata’s cultural heritage thrives under a democratic government that now offers transparent permissions for public events.
