Digital registration for Modi's Vadodara gathering fills up instantly
A digital enrolment drive for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming public meeting in Vadodara achieved full occupancy within an hour of launch on the BookMyShow platform. The surge forced the system to close bookings and automatically enroll over 42,000 individuals onto a waiting list, underscoring the event’s massive draw.
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) coordinated the signup campaign, marking a pioneering use of a private online portal by a civic body to manage attendance at a national‑level political function. As soon as the allotted seats vanished, the registration portal was shut down, yet the waiting list continued to grow.
Participants will receive an M‑Ticket through their BookMyShow account, which contains a live QR code for instant verification at entry points. The end‑to‑end digital workflow—from registration and authentication to venue entry and seat assignment—aims to minimise queues and streamline crowd movement.
During his September 8‑9 itinerary across Gujarat and Maharashtra, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone for development schemes exceeding ₹35,000 crore, inaugurate them, and address the gathering.
A marquee component of the agenda is the dedication of three segments of the 326‑kilometre Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), a project with a price tag of over ₹20,700 crore. Activation of these stretches will bring the entire freight corridor into operation, boosting cargo connectivity, curbing logistics costs, and alleviating congestion on Mumbai’s suburban rail system.
Modi will also give the green light to freight services from new terminals at North Mumbai, New Makarpura, New Umbergaon, and New JNPT, and will unveil a new passenger train linking Vadodara with Tanda Road. The event will also highlight railway, highway, and state‑government investments amounting to several thousand crores.
Following the Vadodara rally, the Prime Minister will head to Mumbai to open the Global FinTech Festival 2026.
