Devotee Voices Highlight Growing Enthusiasm for Amar Nath Pilgrimage Since 2019
The ninth caravan of Shri Amar Nath pilgrims departed Jammu on July 10, escorted by a strong security presence. Throughout the journey, participants burst into devotional chants and bhajans, showcasing a renewed spiritual vigor.
One pilgrim shared his experience of arriving in Jammu on Thursday, checking into a hotel, and completing registration the following morning. He praised the administration’s efficient planning and the nation‑wide dedication of security cadres.
Since the pilgrimage’s resurgence after 2019, attendance has consistently climbed, outpacing earlier years when occasional terror alerts hampered travel. A woman making her inaugural trip expressed immense happiness, citing the high quality of facilities.
A young traveler accompanied by his father highlighted the smooth logistics and extended gratitude to the security forces. Elderly ascetics, some with twelve years of pilgrimage history, observed a stark transformation in safety, attributing it to coordinated efforts by the army, BSF, and Jammu‑Kashmir police.
The flow of devotees to the Baba Barfani shrine remains constant. By the end of day seven, a cumulative 171,501 pilgrims had visited the sacred cave temple via the two traditional routes of Balatal and Chandanwadi.
