Devendra Mahato’s health deteriorates after police assault, says Dipke

The health of Devendra Mahato, the chief organiser of the JPSC‑JSSSC protest in Jharkhand, has worsened following a police lathi charge on August 11. Abhijit Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party, disclosed that Mahoto, who had been observing an indefinite fast, was struck repeatedly despite his non‑violent stance.

According to Dipke, Mahato is currently receiving treatment in a local hospital, and his condition remains critical. The CJP leader said his team has been stationed in Ranchi overnight, standing in solidarity with Mahoto.

Dipke stressed that the students’ struggle is rooted in the defense of their constitutional rights and not a maneuver for electoral gain. He reiterated that his party’s role is to bolster the confidence and resolve of Jharkhand’s youth, not to seek media attention.

“Strengthening the students is our job; shining a personal spotlight is not,” Dipke concluded.
