Devendra Mahato Calls for Fair Probe as Students Demand TDP L Exam Cancellation

Ranchi, August 8 — In a press briefing, student activist Devendra Nath Mahato reiterated the demands of the ongoing protest at Jaypal Singh Munda Stadium. The protest, now in its 15th day, seeks the cancellation of all exams overseen by TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDP L) after a series of paper‑leak incidents involving the JPSC and JSSSC.

Mahato said the first formal dialogue with the Jharkhand government on Friday ended with only verbal promises. “We have been given assurances, but no decisive action,” he remarked. He added that an eight‑member delegation will meet officials again on Saturday to press for immediate fulfillment of the core demands.

The protest’s primary demands are: (1) the immediate annulment of every TDP L‑conducted examination, (2) a transparent, impartial investigation into the leak, and (3) a timeline of three months to address longer‑term reforms. Mahato stressed that the sit‑in will continue until these conditions are met.

Another student leader, Prem Nayak, urged that any further negotiations take place in an open forum with the chief minister, ensuring the process remains transparent. He highlighted the plight of students who study in cramped spaces and cannot afford to have their futures sold for millions of rupees.

The movement has attracted nationwide attention, with citizens from various states expressing solidarity. Organisers have managed to sustain the demonstration through community contributions, emphasizing the collective resolve to eradicate corruption in Jharkhand’s recruitment system.

Mahato concluded by stating that without the cancellation of TDP L examinations and a thorough inquiry, the protest will not relent.
