Deshpande: India will avoid chaos like Bangladesh, power will shift only through polls

Sandip Deshpande warned that India cannot afford to slip into the law‑less environment seen in Bangladesh or Nepal. Referring to recent political unrest in those countries, he asserted that India’s democratic framework prevents such breakdowns.

Deshpande reiterated that the only credible way to change a government is through the ballot box. He rejected any notion of forceful regime change, emphasizing that a simple ink mark on a voting paper is sufficient to bring new leadership to power.

His remarks came after he addressed concerns about voter‑list manipulation in Vadalal and highlighted the importance of transparent electoral processes as the nation moves toward the next state and national elections.
