Deputy CM details ₹1 crore employee insurance, health card rollout

Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramark detailed a dual initiative that couples a ₹1 crore insurance cover with a cash‑less health‑card program for government staff and retirees. The insurance, launched first at Singareni Collieries and later extended to power‑sector employees, now spans the entire state bureaucracy. It safeguards 1,291,056 beneficiaries, including regular, contractual, outsourced, and pensioned workers. Banks participating in salary processing have signed agreements to facilitate the scheme at no extra cost to the government. Additionally, the health‑card scheme, backed by an initial allocation of ₹240 crore, promises cash‑less medical treatment, CGHS‑like packages, and other outpatient benefits, fulfilling long‑standing union demands. The Deputy CM highlighted that 33 claims have already been settled, amounting to over ₹15 crore in payouts for power‑sector and collieries staff.
