Delhi MCD Suspends Junior Engineer Vikas Kumar Gupta

New Delhi, October 26: The Delhi Municipal Corporation has taken decisive action in a matter involving animal welfare activist Jagriti Mishra, suspending Junior Engineer (Building) Vikas Kumar Gupta with immediate effect. Gupta is currently posted in the Outer North Zone.

The administrative order was passed by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Outer North Zone, Narela.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta confirmed the suspension in a message posted on X. She noted that disciplinary action has been initiated against the junior engineer linked to the case.

In her statement, the Chief Minister wrote that she wanted to be absolutely clear about the responsibility of public office holders. According to her, they must serve citizens with sensitivity and integrity.

She further said the government remains committed to a fair examination of every complaint and to following due process. Should any wrongdoing be proven during the inquiry, strict action will be taken in accordance with the law.

The official MCD order describes Vikas Kumar Gupta as Junior Engineer (Building), Outer North Zone, BMID 40033050. He has been placed under suspension with immediate effect because disciplinary proceedings against him are under consideration.

The order also specifies that he will be granted subsistence allowance as per the rules. He is barred from leaving his station during the suspension without permission, and his headquarters will be the office of the Superintending Engineer, Outer North Zone.

The order, issued by the Deputy Commissioner of the Outer North Zone, has been circulated to the Commissioner of MCD, the Director (Vigilance), the Chief Engineer (Building), the Superintending Engineer, and the Executive Engineer (Building).

Reports suggest the action followed a complaint by animal welfare activist Jagriti Mishra, which prompted the government to act swiftly. The development is being regarded as a stern message for good governance and accountability in civic administration.
