Delhi’s Master Plan 2047 Aims to Transform City into Education and Healthcare Hub

The Master Plan for Delhi‑2047, prepared under the guidance of Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu, sets out an ambitious roadmap to turn India’s capital into a leading knowledge and medical centre.

Key elements include a sprawling education complex in Nerela covering 138 hectares, which will host universities, research labs, skill‑development centres and start‑up incubators. The plan also proposes higher Floor Area Ratios for schools to accommodate extracurricular and inclusive programs, complying with the National Education Policy and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act.

On the health front, the plan outlines an integrated network of hospitals, medical colleges, specialty units and wellness centres. By promoting world‑class tertiary care and super‑speciality facilities, Delhi is expected to emerge as a national health‑care hub and a preferred destination for medical tourism.

These initiatives are expected to generate skilled jobs, boost the knowledge‑based economy and improve the quality of life for residents across the capital territory.
