Delhi Govt’s Lakshmi Yojana Begins Direct Bank Transfers on Sept 1

Starting 1 September, the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana will directly credit monthly assistance into the bank accounts of qualified women. The rollout follows the issuance of official letters on 26 August at an event in Talakatora Stadium.

The scheme aims to strengthen women’s financial independence by providing a reliable source of income. Registrations have surged, with the portal showing nearly eight lakh women enrolled within just 18 days of launch, and over five lakh applications received.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, during a review meeting at the Secretariat, praised the rapid uptake and highlighted the role of district‑level monitoring and grievance redressal committees in maintaining the scheme’s transparency.

The administration also announced an upcoming feature on the official Lakshmi portal that will allow applicants to correct any errors or missing details in their submissions, ensuring no eligible woman is left out.
