Delhi Government Boosts ASHA Allowance to Strengthen Primary Health Care

The Delhi cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, voted to raise the monthly incentive for ASHA workers from ₹3,000 to ₹6,000. This policy shift is intended to honour the health volunteers who conduct door‑to‑door outreach, drive vaccination uptake and provide maternal‑child health support. With each ASHA covering about 400 families, the additional funds are projected to improve job satisfaction and retain skilled workers, thereby solidifying primary health services across the city.
