Delhi Development Authority adopts tech‑driven enforcement to protect vacant land
The DDA’s latest SOP, issued on July 12, strengthens its enforcement framework for protecting government‑owned vacant land. Under the plan, fourteen flying squads will perform systematic field checks, capture geotagged photos, and, where appropriate, deploy drones for rapid aerial assessment.
If an illegal structure is discovered, the SOP stipulates a 72‑hour window for demolition orders to be executed. Four dedicated quick‑response teams will then carry out demolition on the same day the legal clearance is received, documenting the process with before‑and‑after imagery and video if required.
All actions are recorded in the Vacant Land Monitoring System, ensuring that land records are refreshed in real time, cleared sites are verified, and continuous monitoring prevents repeat violations.
