Delhi Cyber Police Nab Suspect in Rs 2 Lakh Supplier Scam

A man accused of cheating a company by posing as a supplier of readymade garments and sewing machine goods has been arrested by Delhi Police. Officials said on Friday that the fraud resulted in losses of about Rs 2 lakh for a textile manufacturer.

The suspect, Pawan Kumar, is a resident of Badarpur in Delhi. The Cyber Police Station of Shahdara District made the arrest following a technical investigation. Investigators also seized the phone that had been used to contact the complainant.

Police said the complaint was lodged by Neeraj Kumar Jain, who is involved in readymade garment manufacturing and the trade of related goods. Jain told investigators that Pawan Kumar approached him on July 6 and claimed to be a supplier of readymade garments and sewing machine materials.

According to the complaint, the accused said the required goods were available and could be delivered quickly, persuading Jain to place an order. He also shared catalogues, invoices and transport documents to establish credibility, and repeatedly assured him that the goods would be sent on schedule.

Jain then transferred nearly Rs 2 lakh through several transactions. The promised goods did not arrive, and no money was returned, prompting the registration of a cyber fraud case.

Technical analysis during the investigation led police to Badarpur, where the Shahdara Cyber Police team carried out a raid and arrested the accused.

During the operation, police recovered a mobile phone. A financial probe has found that bank accounts linked to the accused are connected to six cyber crime complaints. These cases involve multiple victims and suspicious transactions worth lakhs of rupees.

Police have indicated that the accused allegedly acted as a caller and was directly involved in these fraud cases. Further investigation is ongoing to trace the money trail, identify other victims and understand the full reach of the alleged fraud.
