Authorities have registered two First Information Reports (FIRs) against Al-Falah University in Haryana, following a recent deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station that resulted in multiple fatalities. The FIRs address allegations of cheating and the purported misrepresentation of the university’s accreditation status. The Delhi Crime Branch initiated these actions, seizing an FIR for cheating and another under forgery statutes. A team from the Crime Branch visited the university’s Okhla office, issuing a notice and requesting necessary documentation. This move by law enforcement follows scrutiny from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) regarding significant irregularities. The NAAC specifically issued a show-cause notice to Al-Falah University for falsely displaying accreditation on its official website, despite not being accredited or having applied for accreditation. The university, established by the Haryana Legislative Assembly, is now under investigation after the arrest of three doctors linked to the “white-collar terror module” and the blast. Questions are being raised about how the institution may have become a sanctuary for such individuals. Initially an engineering college, Al-Falah University received ‘A’ grade accreditation from NAAC in 2013 before achieving university status from the Haryana government in 2014.
