Delhi‑accented thieves target elderly family, steal 21 lakh rupees

A violent robbery unfolded in Karimnagar’s Bhagat Nagar on Tuesday night, when an eight‑member armed gang forced its way into a home belonging to Ajmat Ali. The intruders, masked and speaking Hindi with a North‑Indian (Delhi) accent, overpowered the senior homeowner, gagged him with tape and assaulted him with a knife and a revolver.

The attackers also assaulted Ali’s wife and two daughters, threatening to shoot anyone who made a sound. After securing the premises, the gang made away with 66 tolas of gold jewellery, a cash haul of 21 lakh rupees, and ten tolas of silver. Two motorcycles were stolen, and every mobile phone in the house was seized to hinder any immediate calls for help.

Investigators believe the thieves used the Vemulawada bypass to flee and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area. The choice of a household with mostly elderly and female occupants hints at prior intelligence about the gold and cash stored there.
