Speaking at the 2,000th engine hand‑over, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the event is not just a numeric landmark but a stepping stone toward a larger vision of a self‑reliant aerospace industry capable of designing, developing and supporting world‑class propulsion systems. He emphasized the need for domestic sourcing of raw materials and components, noting a partnership with Metallurgical Corporation of India to localise alloy production. The minister also lauded HAL’s early delivery of AL‑31FP engines for the Sukhoi‑30 MKI, despite global supply‑chain disruptions.
