The Tamil Nadu government is set to introduce a new procedural rule that places the regional prayer song “Tamil Thaai Vazhthu” at the forefront of every official ceremony. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will present the motion in the legislative assembly on Monday.

The proposal arrives at a time when several government events, especially those attended by the Governor, have sparked disputes over whether “Vande Mataram” should be sung before or after the state anthem.
