Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district witnessed a devastating road mishap in the Mandal region on Friday morning, claimed by impenetrable fog. At Kothari Puliya, poor visibility sparked a catastrophic pile-up affecting nearly six vehicles, leaving one fatality and over 12 people wounded.
According to on-scene accounts, the fog was so thick that drivers could barely see a few meters ahead. One vehicle braked suddenly, causing those behind to smash into it sequentially, turning the bridge into a scene of destruction.
Emergency responders, including police and officials, arrived promptly to initiate rescue efforts. After strenuous endeavors, the injured were freed from debris and rushed to hospitals, where treatment continues for the severely hurt.
Traffic ground to a halt for about four kilometers around the crash site, creating massive congestion. With crane assistance, damaged trucks and cars were removed, allowing passage to resume gradually.
Police have launched a thorough probe into the accident’s causes, emphasizing fog-related risks. This event highlights the urgent need for better road safety measures, such as fog lights and warning signals, in fog-prone zones of Rajasthan.
