Data‑Center Hub Ambitions Boost Gujarat’s Economic Landscape, Says CII Gujarat Chair

Gujarat’s strategic advantage of readily available land, low‑cost electricity and proximity to undersea fibre‑optic cables is being leveraged to attract large‑scale data‑center projects. The state’s newly launched Data‑Center Policy for 2026‑29 targets a cumulative capacity of 7.5 gigawatts and seeks to lure hyper‑scale operators and digital infrastructure investors.

The chair of CII’s Gujarat chapter highlighted that the region could evolve into a national – and potentially Asian – data‑center capital, provided that water availability and environmental safeguards are adequately addressed. The policy also incentivises renewable‑energy integration, aligning with the state’s broader clean‑energy goals.
