Dalvi Condemns BJP Over Jinnah Remarks, Naxal Label and Selective Outrage
Mumbai, November 4 — Congress veteran Husain Dalvi has launched a comprehensive defense of Rahul Gandhi while dissecting a series of controversial statements made by BJP leaders. At the core of Dalvi’s critique is the assertion that the current administration prioritizes rhetoric over parliamentary engagement and substantive governance.
Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s public challenge for a national debate, Dalvi affirmed that such initiatives are vital for democratic discourse. He criticized the frequent absences of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister from legislative sessions, interpreting these departures as a deliberate attempt to sidestep opposition scrutiny.
The veteran politician also dismantled the historical inaccuracies in Maharashtra Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha’s comparison of Rahul Gandhi to Jinnah. Dalvi stressed that partition was a traumatic event that Congress fought relentlessly against. He invoked Mahatma Gandhi’s unwavering commitment to national unity and his humanitarian visits to Pakistan, labeling any attempt to rewrite this history as highly misleading.
On the Dia Mirza controversy, Dalvi highlighted the disproportionate response from certain political quarters. He welcomed the High Court’s intervention and asked why advocating for quieter festivals and cleaner environments warranted such intense political attacks. He suggested that the targeting was religiously motivated, given that other prominent figures faced identical criticisms during the same period without consequence.
Concluding his remarks, Dalvi rejected Amit Shah’s characterization of Congress as harboring extremist tendencies. He reiterated the party’s longstanding opposition to all forms of violence and its dedication to Gandhian ethics. Describing Rahul Gandhi as a leader who consistently amplifies the voices of farmers, laborers, and the underprivileged while championing national integration, Dalvi concluded that labeling such a figure as a Naxal sympathizer is not only inaccurate but deeply damaging to India’s democratic fabric.
