Dalai Lama’s 91st Birthday Marked by Tributes from Prime Minister and Ministers
New Delhi, July 6 – The 91st birthday of the 14th Dalai Lama was celebrated across India with official messages of admiration and goodwill. Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X, calling the Dalai Lama a paragon of moral and spiritual strength whose call for world peace has become a source of inspiration for people everywhere. The Prime Minister wished him a long, healthy life.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla added his congratulations, emphasizing the Dalai Lama’s lifelong dedication to compassion and human dignity, and praying for his continued health and happiness.
Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, expressed deep faith in the Dalai Lama’s values, describing them as guiding lights that illuminate the path of love, peace and compassion for all of humanity.
Communications and North‑East Development Minister Jyotiraditya Sinha lauded the Dalai Lama’s perpetual commitment to peace, stating that his example serves as a beacon for future generations.
Water Resources Minister C.R. Patil also offered his heartfelt wishes, noting the Dalai Lama’s relentless advocacy for non‑violence and spiritual leadership, and praying for his sustained vigor and long life.
The Dalai Lama, born Tenjin Gyatso on 6 July 1935 in Taktser, Tibet, was recognized as the 14th incarnation of the Dalai Lama at the age of two. After fleeing Tibet in 1959, he settled in India in 1960 and has since lived at the Dharamshala monastery known as “Little Lhasa,” continuing his work as a spiritual leader and advocate for global compassion.
