In a major development, the National Investigation Agency has submitted a chargesheet against five persons accused of running an elaborate human trafficking and cyber slavery operation targeting Indian youth. The gang allegedly lured victims to Cambodia with promises of lucrative jobs before subjecting them to forced labor and brutal treatment. The document was filed in a Patna special court. The accused include the still-fugitive Anand Kumar Singh, along with Abhay Nath Dubey, Abhiranjan Kumar, Rohit Yadav, and Prahlad Kumar Singh. Three of them were arrested in February 2026 while returning from Cambodia, while Prahlad remains out on bail. According to the NIA probe, the accused posed as recruitment agents offering attractive overseas employment. Victims had their documents seized upon arrival and were forced into sham cyber firms. Those who protested faced electric shocks, confinement, and denial of food and water. The operation relied on a chain of sub-agents within India who identified and transported young men to Cambodia. Each victim fetched between 2,000 and 3,000 US dollars for the gang. The agency continues to investigate the broader syndicate and hunt for the prime accused.
