Cyber Cell Traces Online Threats Aimed at Uttar Pradesh MP

The Delhi cyber‑crime unit has taken charge of investigating a series of death threats posted against Purnia MP Rajesh Ranjan, known as Pappu Yadav. The threats, entered on the official website’s complaint portal on July 28, explicitly mentioned shooting the MP and detonating a bomb to kill his relatives.

According to the complaint, the sender identified himself as Mukesh Mishra and provided a mobile number, email ID, Aadhaar number and a residential address in Madhubani, Bihar. The MP’s office escalated the matter to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, demanding a rapid FIR and the apprehension of the suspect.

Technical teams are now analyzing server logs, tracking the origin IP address, and cross‑checking the supplied contact information. The investigation is also looking into any possible links to broader security concerns surrounding political figures.

Law enforcement agencies have reiterated that any threat to a public servant is a criminal offense and have pledged to keep the MP’s family under tight protection while the probe continues.
