The border region between India and Nepal remains a hotspot for large‑scale drug smuggling, and the latest seizure underscores the challenge. The SSB, unable to operate far inside Indian territory, coordinated with Bihar and West Bengal police to target a known smuggling route. The raid on Mo. Jalal’s house yielded nearly a kilogram of brown sugar, a substance that can fetch more than four million rupees on the illegal market. Officials say criminals exploit the porous border and the lack of passport or visa requirements to move contraband. The operation follows a previous joint SSB‑police effort that intercepted 50 grams of the same substance on August 30.
