Critics question benefits of Modi‑named airport for Uttar Pradesh residents
Stakeholders across Uttar Pradesh are scrutinizing the decision to rename the Noida International Airport after Narendra Modi. While the state government touts the airport as a catalyst for economic growth, opposition leaders demand concrete data on job creation, local business opportunities, and improved air connectivity.
Congress president Aradhana Mishra Mona highlighted that the massive ₹30,000 crore investment has yet to translate into measurable gains for the common citizen. She cited the recent flooding incident that temporarily disabled airport operations as evidence that infrastructure, not nomenclature, should be the focus.
Mona also urged the administration to release an audit of the airport’s finances and to address pending issues raised in a Special Investigation Report concerning the deletion of 13 crore voter names. She warned that without transparent accountability, symbolic gestures risk being perceived as political posturing.
