CPI(M) blames Karnataka for shortfall in Cauvery water allocation

Shanamugam also accused the Karnataka government of failing to honour the Supreme Court’s order to release its rightful share of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu each month. He claimed that Karnataka releases additional water only when its own reservoirs are full, depriving delta farmers of the volume required for Samba rice. The CPI(M) leader urged the Tamil Nadu government to file a petition in the Supreme Court to press the central government for enforcement of the river‑water share.
