CPI calls on President Murmu to intervene in Tamil Nadu governor row

The CPI has appealed to President Droupadi Murmu to step in and examine the governor’s conduct. Veerapandian urged the President to take “prompt and appropriate action” against what he termed a violation of constitutional norms. He reminded the President that the Supreme Court, in earlier judgments, clearly delineated the powers and duties of a state governor, emphasizing that the office must remain neutral and cannot interfere with the elected government’s policy decisions. The party also called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to pursue both legal and political remedies to curb what it described as an overreach of authority.
