Courtroom Disruption Triggers Arrest of Two Law Scholars, Police Hold Them for Further Inquiry
A courtroom incident on July 10 at the Supreme Court resulted in the apprehension of two law students from Lucknow University. While the bench examined SLP No. 31367/2026, the students entered the hall, shouted abusive remarks, and scattered documents to create havoc. Security personnel attempted to restore order, but the accused allegedly forced a confrontation with an on‑duty officer, obstructing official duties. After the episode, the Delhi police recorded an FIR, conducted a medical evaluation, and found no immediate need for psychiatric care. They also seized pamphlets bearing indecent slogans. The students—named as Prabal Pratap Singh and Chandra Bhan—were presented before the Supreme Court and subsequently remanded for two days as investigators continue to probe the motive and circumstances behind the disruption.
