Court rulings reshape BC quota in Andhra local elections

On Oct 1 the Andhra Pradesh High Court struck down two state orders that had raised Backward Class reservation to 34%. The court mandated that total reservation must not exceed the 50% ceiling set by the Supreme Court. The state has now fixed the overall quota at 50%.
