Court‑Ordered Custody Leads to 21‑kg Cannabis Recovery in Noida
On July 31, 2026, a court‑approved police custody order resulted in the discovery of more than 21 kilograms of illegal cannabis in Noida. The woman in custody, identified as Nuri, wife of Sajid, pointed investigators to a rundown dwelling in Sector‑9 where the drug was hidden.
Officers recovered exactly 21 kilograms and 200 grams of the narcotic, an amount that could fetch between three and four lakh rupees on the open market. The seizure came as part of a sustained crackdown on narcotics under the NDPS Act.
Following the recovery, the police seized the entire batch and initiated legal proceedings, adding Section 20 of the NDPS Act to the existing charges. The investigation now aims to determine the origin of the seized weed and to uncover other participants in the smuggling operation.
Authorities reiterated that the district’s anti‑drug initiatives remain aggressive, and any individual linked to the trafficking network will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
