NEW DELHI, July 7 – A division bench of the Delhi High Court ruled that there is sufficient preliminary evidence to keep Atahar Khan in custody, denying his request for bail. Justices Pratibha M. Singh and Madhu Jain observed that the WhatsApp chat logs submitted by the prosecution demonstrate Khan’s direct participation in planning the 2020 riots. The court also highlighted the risk that Khan could abscond or tamper with key witnesses if released. Consequently, the bench affirmed the trial court’s order rejecting his bail petition under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, stating that the alleged conspiracy resulted in extensive damage and loss of life.
