Court Extends Relief to Candidates After Govt Cancels 2026 Jharkhand Exams

In a continuation of the litigation over the Jharkhand government's decision to invalidate appointments from several 2026 recruitment examinations, the High Court upheld the interim relief for the affected candidates. The court observed that any blanket cancellation must be scrutinised in light of individual circumstances and the need to protect candidates who were selected through a fair process.

The hearing featured senior counsel Rajiv Ranjan and former Advocate General Ranjit Roy representing the petitioners, while senior advocates Meenakshi Arora and Rohitashya Roy defended the state's position. Counsel for the JPSC and other intervenors also presented their submissions. The court stressed that the investigation into alleged malpractices must not impede the rights of those lawfully appointed.
