Coordinated Air Evacuation Brings Critical Care to Mechuka Victims

A coordinated air evacuation carried out by the Indian Air Force successfully transferred two critically injured residents of Mechuka to a tertiary care hospital in Dibrugarh. The request originated from Circle Officer Ritu Tave, who highlighted the urgent need for advanced medical attention for 40‑year‑old Yajap Pujor Jibang and 45‑year‑old Chapi Pudur.

The IAF helicopter arrived at the remote Mechuka helipad at approximately 14:50 hours. After a rapid loading process, the aircraft departed for Mohanbari Air Base, navigating through difficult topography and worsening weather conditions. The flight concluded with a safe landing at 16:20 hours.

Upon arrival, the patients were handed over to ambulance teams and taken to a Dibrugarh hospital for further treatment. The operation was made possible through seamless collaboration among the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the IAF Eastern Air Command (Shillong), Air Headquarters (New Delhi), district administrations of Mechuka and Aalo, and local health authorities.

In Aalo, ADC Mabi Taipodia Jini, DMOs Dr. Linya Lolen, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Karken Reena ensured that medical assistance and transport logistics were ready, preventing any delay during the transfer. Despite low visibility and heavy cloud cover, the pilots prioritized the mission and completed it without incident.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Defence and the IAF for their prompt, life‑saving response, emphasizing the value of joint civil‑military operations in remote disaster scenarios.
