Container Strikes Bus in Sunabeda, Fatalities Rise to Five

A private coach on its way from Hyderabad to Vijayawada met with a catastrophic collision when it struck a large container truck near Sunabeda, a locality in the Kodad mandal of Suryapet district, Telangana. The incident took place at roughly 5:20 a.m. on August 26.

The bus, carrying 42 passengers, suffered extensive damage to its rear section. The impact was so violent that the vehicle’s back end collapsed, trapping several occupants.

Five passengers succumbed to their injuries instantly, while twenty others were hospitalized with serious wounds. Three of the injured are listed as critical and have been transferred to a referral hospital in Vijayawada for further care.

Rescue teams, aided by local villagers, worked to extricate the survivors from the wreckage. Police have secured the site, collected the bodies, and are investigating possible negligence or mechanical failure.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed profound grief over the loss of life and directed the state’s health department to prioritize the treatment of the injured while urging a thorough audit of road safety standards on the national highway.
