Congress Seeks Seat Sharing Talks with Samajwadi Party for UP Polls

Congress senior leader Rajendra Pal Gautam announced that discussions on seat‑sharing with the Samajwadi Party will commence shortly. The talks are expected to follow the completion of Congress’s internal organisational buildup across Uttar Pradesh.

Gautam, a former AIMIM spokesperson, praised the party’s focus on education, health and democratic strengthening. He said that aligning with the Samajwadi Party will prevent a split in the anti‑BJP vote and improve the coalition’s chances of forming the next state government.

The Congress leadership emphasized that the alliance will be based on mutual respect for each party’s core voter bases while presenting a united front against the BJP’s narrative.
