Congress Ramps Up Poll Prep With New War Room Chairs

Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, the Congress party has intensified its preparations by appointing chairpersons for election war rooms across five states.

According to a press release issued on Saturday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge approved the proposal for the appointments. The chairpersons have been given immediate charge and will monitor the functioning of the war rooms in their respective states.

Sachin Yadav has been named for Uttar Pradesh, Kannan Gopinathan for Punjab, Imroz Khan for Goa, Biswaranjan Mohanty for Manipur, and Krishna Satrodh for Uttarakhand. The party stated that the approvals were issued with immediate effect as part of its poll readiness drive.

The war rooms serve as command centres for campaign coordination, communication, monitoring of political developments, and collaboration between party units during elections. The party hopes the appointments will bolster its organisational strength and campaign readiness in the five states.

Earlier, on Friday, AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal disclosed that the party had conducted high-level meetings with senior leaders from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. These discussions were held to boost mobilisation for the INDIA bloc's mega rally against 'vote chori' on November 1 in New Delhi.

In a post on X, Venugopal said that alongside Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, he met AICC in-charge for Uttar Pradesh Rajendra Pal Gautam, UP Congress chief Aradhana Misra Mona, and other senior leaders from the state. They deliberated on strategies for achieving wide participation in the rally.

Separately, a meeting was held with AICC in-charge for Haryana Sanjay Dutt, Haryana Congress president Rao Narender Singh, and senior state leaders. The objective was to consolidate organisational efforts in Haryana.
